Artistic Statement

 

 

I have always shied away from black and white photography, preferring vibrant colours and abstract, almost psychedelic colour, as apparent in my New Media Art. Then during the winter of 2003, I visited Prague and happened upon an exhibition showing examples of the eminent Helmut Newton's works. I was struck by the bold tones and rich textures within his monotone images. I came home and began experimenting. The images in this gallery are the beginnings of a new phase in my photographic career. I have 'discovered' black and white photography."
