MOTIVATIONS OF THE WORK
"Everything is completed "
"It is finished!"
The Gospel according to John says those were the last words spoken by Christ before dying on the cross.
For the many believing in the Christian religion, Jesus, recognizing in God's designs his own role of sacrificial victim, dies to save all mankind.
The Gospels will communicate to the whole world the life and tragic death of this God who turned man.
Instead we don't know the last words of those, too many, unknown, who throughout the centuries died a violent death.
For them only a tale remains, a judicial testimony, the records of a trial, sometimes only pictures remain, many, numerous.
For them there is no more memory.
For them "nothing is finished" except their existence.
Naught we know of the pain felt, of the terrified screams in the last moments, of the unheeded pleas for mercy.
I worked, depending on my skills, on real pictures of murdered dead to soften their dire, violent visual impact.
Why did I do that?
To egoistically exorcise tragic and painful stories even though they are or were part of our lives, or at least of mine.
To remind myself and the others of all those who, anonymous, died in tragic circumstances leaving behind no memento of themselves.
To invite all to observe that curt commandment saying:
DO NOT KILL!
LVP
DON'T KILL!
