Phil Preston, originally from Leicester, East Midlands, he
has been living in South East England for about 18 years
and currently lives in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire UK. He
became interested in photography about 30 years ago.
As an amateur photographer, largely self taught. Most
of his knowledge has come from books, magazines, the
occasional short course and, perhaps most importantly,
looking at good photos by other people.
The majority of his photography is still film based, using
an ageing but adequately resourced Canon EOS 600,
with occasional use of a digital Casio 3500EX. Phil
anticipates using film for some time yet, but expects to
be 100% digital at some point in the future. Phi uses
Ulead PhotoImpact software for photo editing. This is
very good software, excellent value for money, and he
recommends its use to any photographers considering a
move to digital. The latest version (PI7) was given a
92% rating by Digital Photo magazine in the December
2001 edition.

PBI (Photo Board International) Pixiport's discussion
board is growing fast with
some of the best in photography. Bob Snell has
monthly special assignments and a favorite of many is
his "Colors". Each month a new color photo section and
PixiPort has added Spectrum Photographers Gallery to
bring to all the results of this exciting exhibition. Red
is our first gallery,next month blue. The creativity flows
in these galleries. PBI has forums on technical
questions,workshops,projects and are moderated by top
professionals. Bob Snell is director of PBI and has
created an enviroment for all to enjoy. Each
assignment produces a winner for the Hall of Champions.
Shirley Cross photo is winner of the "Over the top"
assignment. Carmen Fuch's photo has won in the Red
catagory. Steve Bingham's photoshop tech tips,Greg
Summers landscape and floral forums are just a few of
the forums onboard.
