The Official Corel Painter Magazine
was first
published early last year in England and can now be
bought at many bookstores in America.
The publication caused great excitement to artists who were already enjoying the creativity of using Corel's Painter software and opened windows to expand everyone's capabilities into a another world of art making. As Jo Cole, editor in chief said "Each issue will look at a wide range of artistic styles and how to create them. We are going to showcase the amazing variety of art that can be produced with Painter, and then help you create it for yourselves" Her promise has held true, even without an art background or training `pictures` can be turned into paintings. Photography and Painter marry well. Pixiport artist, Cat Bounds is also a valued member of staff on the Painter Magazine, producing exciting and easy to follow tutorials and assisting in the varied question and answer section plus writing articles on many of the creative art related issues and help the Magazine carries. Two of her pictures are on the front cover and back of The Painter Magazine, Issue11 |

Minor White was an American photographer, educator,
poet and a critic. He was recognized for his intense
commitment of photography and his vision.
Minor Martin White was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1908. He studied botany at the University of Minnesota but later worked as a photographer for the Works Progress Administration in Oregon. White became involved with many influential photographers of the time including Edward Weston, Alfred Steiglitz and Ansel Adams. It was Ansel Adams who invited him to join the faculty of the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco where he served from 1946 to 1953. Under White the fine art photography department became the first of its kind in America. Along with Adams, Dorothea Lange, Barbara Morgan, writer/curator Nancy Newhall and historian Beaumont Newhall, Minor White founded the leading photography magazine Aperture and edited it until 1975. Minor died on June 24th 1976. He was one of America's greatest photographers, remembered for his ideas about the `spiritual` in photography; undoubtedly, Minor White's work in photography altered the medium forever. "No matter how slow the film, Spirit always stands still long enough for the photographer It has chosen. " More about Minor White |
